If your specific design features exotic/imported wood, that will of course be accommodated but will be kept to a minimum as needed.
In addition, Cosmic Tree Woodcraft custom wood furniture for our New Jersey clients is built using durable hardwood and professional joinery instead of cheap pressed wood that's barely kept together with nails and screws. Every piece of Cosmic Tree Woodcraft furniture will outlast anything you buy from box stores or other furniture makers of lesser quality. You want that furniture to first meet your specific needs such as features or space limitations, and you want your furniture to impress or wow your guests. Maybe you just want your furniture to wow yourself each time you sit down at it. Cosmic Tree Woodcraft is here to collaboratively design your wood furniture with you according to your wants/needs, build it, and deliver it to your New Jersey home or business in person. Cosmic Tree Woodcraft furniture is custom-built using locally sourced wood. That means the wood we use in the furniture we build is purchased from local mills, tree services, and hardwood suppliers in the New Jersey area. Wood purchased from box stores and imported exotic wood is kept to an absolute minimum as needed according to client specifications.
The most common types of wood used in Cosmic Tree Woodcraft furniture for our New Jersey clients are Black Walnut, Cherry, Ash, Maple, Oak, Cedar, and Hickory. This list is not all-inclusive, and there are variations of the wood types listed. For example, the most common types of Oak are Red Oak and White Oak, Red Cedar and White Cedar, Striped Maple and Sugar Maple. Many of these wood types also include variations in the look of them. You can have a furniture piece made from clean, consistent-looking wood. Or you could have pieces made from wood with a lot of character, with fun, multi-color, swirly grain textures.
Each wood type has various properties. Some types of wood are good for almost any type of furniture, while others are limited to specifically indoors or outdoors, or good or not good for table surfaces. All of this will be worked out in the initial collaborative design process.
Your furniture will likely have fun design features and details to really make it stand out. This includes details such as, but not limited to, resin, brass, copper, or gold inlaid into the wood. But you may wish to keep it simple instead, or the wood type itself may not need any detailed features.
Cosmic Tree Woodcraft collaborates directly with our New Jersey clients to design your wood furniture. We'll provide you with an estimate of how long it will take to build it from the build start date and the overall cost of the project, including taxes and fees. If the furniture requires space limitations, we'll take the required measurements of that space during the initial design phase. We'll notify you when your project begins the build phase, and you'll be provided regular updates and pictures to show the progress of it. Upon completion, your furniture will be delivered to your New Jersey location by Cosmic Tree Woodcraft, not a contracted delivery service.
What we don't do is perform installation of furniture that requires such installation. For example, if you have floating shelves commissioned, we will not mount the shelves. Delivery of the shelves is the extent of the services provided. We won't increase the cost of the project for reasons caused by unforeseen circumstances by Cosmic Tree Woodcraft. If you change the design in such a way that increases the cost of the build, then the cost will increase accordingly for additional labor and materials.
Cosmic Tree Woodcraft is owned and operated by a U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard veteran who loves to design and make unique wood furniture. I grew up watching my dad do DIY projects around the multiple homes we lived in for years. When I got old enough (6 years old), he taught me and had me do projects with him until I could complete projects on my own. I joined active duty U.S. Air Force and after my first enlistment period, I joined the Delaware Air National Guard where I've been ever since (over 20 years combined). Since 2009, I've been honing my craft, designing and building a multitude of custom-built wood furniture pieces as a hobby. In 2023 I decided to go professional and make my furniture available for commission. Cosmic Tree Woodcraft is a new custom furniture business serving New Jersey clients, with over 15 years of woodworking experience.
